Environmental seminar organized at Ganieshbal Pahalgam Environmental seminar organized at Ganieshbal Pahalgam Pahalgam August 29, 2015 The Himalayan Welfare Organization, Pahalgam in collaboration with Government Middle School Ganieshbal Pahalgam organized a one day seminar on Environmental conservation and sustainable development at government middle school Ganieshbal Pahalgam yesterday. The seminar was aimed at generating awareness about environmental issues concerning local water bodies’ glaciers, land grab sanitation, conservation of himalayan ecosystem and the need for developing pathways for sustainable development in the region. According to a statement issued to KNS, the seminar was attended hundreds of school students, civil society members, senior citizens. Those who spoke at the event included, MLA Pahalgam Mohd Altaf Wani, presided over the function and spoke as chief guest; Chief Executive Officer Pahalgam Development Authority Reyaz Ahmad Wani presided over the function and spoke as guest of honor. Mushtaq Pahalgami, President, Himalayan Welfare Organization Muzaffar Ahmad Khadim, Headmaster Government Middle School Ganieshbal Pahalgam,and other teachers and students from the school also spoke at tthe event. Mushtaq Pahalgami and his organization Himalayan Welfare Organization's ongonig efforts and service to the local society was also appreciated by speakers at the seminar, others who attended the event included Tehsildar Pahalgam, Executive Engineer Pahalgam Development Authority Muzaffar Ahmad, Naib Tehsildar Pahalgam, Secretary Muncipal Committee Pahalgam Nazir Ahmad, Bilal Ahmad Teacher, Rafi Ahmad Bhat Teacher, Shabir Ahmad Teacher, Feroz Ahmad Bhat Teacher, Abid Hussain Bhat Teacher, Arif Hussain Khanday, Treasurer HWO, Manzoor Ahmad Magray Vise President HWO,Parents, VEC Members and others. The event was livened up by cultural performances on the subject of environmental conservation by the students. The CEO, PDA praised the school administration for their efforts. Pahalgami concluded the event by praising the school administration's efforts and thanked all those who helped make the event a success.
